FAQ
Air Conditioning FAQ
Common questions about air conditioning service, installation, repair and quotes in the Greater Toronto Area.
How do I know whether my AC needs repair or replacement?
The right choice depends on system condition, repair history, cooling performance, efficiency, equipment compatibility and the cost of the required repair. Airrand can assess the system before recommending a repair or replacement path.
Why is my AC running but not cooling properly?
Poor cooling can be related to airflow, refrigeration, electrical, controls, equipment condition or system setup. The system should be diagnosed before parts or refrigerant are added.
Why is there ice on my AC line or indoor coil?
Ice can be connected to restricted airflow, refrigeration issues or other operating problems. Continued operation can worsen the condition, so the system should be inspected rather than simply topped up.
How often should air conditioning maintenance be performed?
Many homeowners choose to have cooling equipment inspected before or during the cooling season, especially older or heavily used systems. Maintenance can catch issues earlier, but it cannot prevent every failure.
Does a bigger air conditioner cool better?
No. Oversized equipment can cycle excessively, reduce humidity control and create comfort issues. Proper sizing and airflow matter more than simply installing a larger unit.
Does low refrigerant mean I just need a recharge?
A sealed air conditioning system should not normally use up refrigerant every season. If refrigerant is low, the cause and operating condition should be evaluated before refrigerant is added.
Can Airrand replace just the outdoor unit?
Sometimes, but compatibility must be evaluated first. The indoor coil, refrigerant type, capacity, controls and manufacturer requirements all affect whether replacing only the outdoor condenser is appropriate.
Does Airrand handle residential and light commercial cooling?
Yes. Airrand handles central air conditioning installation, replacement, repair, diagnostics and maintenance for homes and light commercial spaces across the Greater Toronto Area.
What should I send when requesting AC service?
Share the property type, city, equipment photos, model information if available and a short description of the cooling issue or replacement goal. Photos help Airrand understand access and equipment condition faster.
